1. Relief Printing

This printing method is suitable for mass production of plastic packaging bags and is also adopted by printing enterprises to fill market gaps. The key feature of relief printing is that all image areas on the printing plate are on the same plane, while non-image areas are recessed below the plate surface. During printing, the raised image areas are coated with ink, and the recessed non-image areas do not hold ink. By applying appropriate pressure between the printing plate and the substrate (biodegradable plastic bag), the ink on the raised areas is transferred to the substrate, resulting in the final printed product.

2. Gravure Printing

Gravure printing is renowned for its high quality, vibrant colors, solid ink coverage, clear image layers, and high printing durability. However, it has the drawbacks of high plate-making costs and a long production cycle. Also known as intaglio printing, the image areas of the plate are recessed, with the depth of the recess corresponding to the image’s tonal levels—darker parts of the image are deeper. During printing, the entire plate is first coated with ink, and then a doctor blade scrapes off the ink from the non-recessed (non-image) areas. The ink remaining in the recessed image areas is then transferred to the substrate under pressure.
